WHY CHOOSE HIGHLANDS?
Quality Christian Education.
Highlands Private School is focussed on providing your child the education that will set them up for success in the future. At the very heart of our approach to education is much more than 'bible education', rather it's about the person and the finished work of Jesus Christ and how this applies to the lives of the children and young adults in the school. The ultimate goal for us as a school is to raise up a future generation of faith-filled Jesus followers and give them the tools and skills necessary to excel in high-school, tertiary education, and in life.
Intentionally smaller class sizes.
Our passionate teachers place emphasis on focussed, intentional, and meaningful individual attention with the learners in their class. It is our commitment to maintaining a 24 learner-per-class size that ensures quality teaching time. Our rigorous checks and balances within the school allow potential difficulties in a child's learning process to be quickly identified and swift intervention can take place to ensure that your child can flourish within their class.
Grade 8 from 2022.
Highlands Private School will start offering Grade 8 in 2022, Grade 8 & 9 in 2023, Grade 8, 9 & 10 in 2024, Grade 8, 9, 10, & 11 in 2025, and our Grade 8 class of 2022 will matriculate in 2026! As a School Board and staff, we have tremendous faith that God will go before us as we prepare to meet the departmental requirements to enable the school to begin to provide high school classes. There is a lot of work to be done, both in this year and in next year, but we believe that we are up for the challenge and we are excited that we can begin to offer a good option for parents to consider when their children come to the end of their Grade 7 year.
Grade RR - Grade 7.
We offer a complete educational journey for your child, starting from pre-grade R, all the way up to grade 7. When our Grade 7 learners exit at the end of their primary school career, they easily transition into the next and senior part of their schooling. It is a sheer joy for us to witness and participate in the growth-path of each and every child that starts their educational journey with us.
We are 'Google' for Education.
Highlands Private School uses Google's G-Suite for Education within the school. Google's user-friendly array of online applications, allows us to teach our learners how to use computers to do their work, communicate with their teachers online, collaborate with their peers on assignments and projects, and ultimately to learn digital skills and responsible digital citizenship. What sets G-Suite for education apart is that the tools provided to school administrators to protect the data and the safety of our learners while they interact using these online applications, help to make sure that no-one from outside the school domain can contact your learner and no learner can make contact with anyone outside the school domain. This level of administration is crucial to the safety of your child - meaning that their accounts are completely managed and that the content they are allowed to view is strictly monitored and filtered from any inappropriate content. Our approach to digital education is to provide your child with computer literacy starting at a young age so that by the time they have left primary school, they are confident & responsible computer users.
Registered independent school, accredited to offer CAPS.
Highlands Private School has a proven track record with the Department of Education: registered as an independent school in 2000 (EMIS 030122), and accredited by UMALUSI (Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further education and training) to offer the CAPS curriculum (Accreditation No. 17 SCH01 0274). Though we use the CAPS curriculum as our guide, we like to think of our approach as 'UNCAPPED'!
